This past summer, I fasted during the month of Ramadan to stand in solidarity with the Muslim community. The experience allowed me to reconnect with God and my spiritual self. Summer in NYC is probably the craziest time to fast because there's so much temptation around and so many opportunities to break the fast.

During my fast, I decided to compose and arrange a symphony as a way to document my experience and express the thoughts and feelings that surfaced as it related my personal life and the world around me.

Blending elements of Jazz, Gospel, Trap and Classical music, I created a cohesive, introspective piece along with a few close friends (Jonathan Dely on trumpet, DSchwo on keys and guitar, Dr. Chicago on keys) who agreed to also fast while working on this piece.

The symphony has been completed and untouched since mid-July, but given the current state of the world, something in my soul compelled me to share it with the world.

Enjoy Symphony No. 40.
